Acoustic Ska
Since it has been 10 months since I saw this show I can't write as much about this show.
I caught only 2 songs from the Hebrew School Droupouts, and remember how crowded the stage was just due to the sheer amount of people in the band. The Cheap Suits were up next. The crowd was really into them, especially with the song Ska Saves. I know the band was pumped for the show as much as the crowd was. They played a really good set, setting the crowd up for The Makefshift Heroes. This was actually my first time seeing The Makeshift Heroes and remember liking what I heard. I can't go into specifics for them as I didn't know their material, but their loyal Toronto following was out there skanking it up.
Chris Murray, a former local musican braced the stage. When you think of ska music, you generally don't think of just a man singing while playing an acoustic guitar. Well, Mr. Murray has proved everyone wrong. He came with no set list, and played whatever the crowd asked for. With hits like Michael and Annie (actually a King Apparatus tune), We Do the Ska, Since I've Have You, The Higher the Monkey Climbs, Rocksteady, etc., etc., etc., etc., etc, made for a memorable night. Hopefully this talented man will come back soon, as his home country misses him.
