2004-06-20, The Reverb - Toronto, ON

Maybe it was the fact that the Muchmusic Video awards were on the same night, or that the Kingpins had been in town only three months ago, but the show was far less crowded than I thought it was going to be.

This show had six bands perform. Too many bands for me to remember each and everyone's set. This was my second time seeing SKrAtch 3, and thought they put on a nice set. They were followed by the Heatskores, who I have heard always put on a good show. Surprisingly (considering I go to a fair amount of local shows) this was my first time seeing them perform. I felt they were quite talented, but just too heavy for my personal taste.

The Cheap Suits put on a good set as they always do. They are a good band to be matched up with the Kingpins. Opening with Two Tone got the audience skanking and pumped up for the rest of their set.

This was my first time seeing the Kingpins as well (I missed the show in March due to being at university...don't go to school kids, you'll miss all the good shows). Since I missed the show in March, it looks like I have missed my opportunity to see the "Ten Commandments of Ska" being performed live. Knowing more of the Kingpins older material I was in for a pleasant surprise to hear their newer material. I enjoyed the newer sound that the new band members have brought to the band, and cannot wait to see what they have in store for their new album. Keep up the good work guys and keep Canada skankin'.
