2006-06-15, Reverb - Toronto, ON

I had been waiting to see The Aggrolites from the moment I heard their album. They are a skinhead reggae/ska band from Southern California. After being lucky enough to see them on this night, I hope they make an effort to come to Toronto at least once a year. I know they could fill a place with each visit. They were probably one of the top three bands I have ever seen live before. They play with so much passion, and energy, which I find is hard for trad ska band to do convincingly. I'm counting the days until they decide to return next.

I've heard people rage about The Aquabats for as long as I've started listening to ska music. Although, they don't play ska music any more, they still have their diehard ska fans following their every move. I did only get to hear three of their songs before I had to leave to head back to Brantford, but I can say they didn't at all live up to the hype I've been hearing. Yes they have the best merch you will find ANYWHERE, yes they have a cool projection screen that gets customized for each show, but their music isn't anything special live. Maybe I needed to see more of their set, but I can say I wasn't impressed at all.
